With the recent news that Liam Hemsworth proposed to his former ‘Last Song’ co-star Miley Cyrus, fans of the actress’s engagement ring can create their own ring just like hers for a fraction of the cost. Through Blue Nile’s Build Your Own Engagement Ring function, there are several Cyrus-inspired rings for under $5,000.
Hemsworth asked celebrity jeweler Neil Lane to design an engagement ring for Cyrus, and requested that it be unusual, beautiful and romantic. The ‘Hunger Games’ actor ended up with a 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring, handcrafted in 18-karat gold with intricately carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern.
The center stone dates back to the late 19th century. Lane said the diamond is unique and in its original form. He sculpted the gold setting to fit the shape of the diamond, and set the smaller diamonds in the gold to highlight the main stone.
Lane added that he worked with Hemsworth on the final design, and he was happy with the way the ring was designed. The ring was finished last week, in time for Hemsworth to propose on Thursday. Cyrus later Tweeted “Thank you all for the love today. I’m happy to share this news with you all. I fell like all my dreams are coming true.”
