Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the Michigan Quicken Loans 400 Nascar race yesterday in a car with a paint scheme dedicated to the anticipated final installment in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’ The win was celebrated because Earnhardt didn’t start the race near the front of the pack. He began in 17th place, before quickly falling back to 25th place.
But during the 11th lap of the Quicken Loans 400, the race’s crew chief, Steve Letarte, called for a spring rubber and a chassis adjustment on Earnhardt’s black, Batman sponsored car. After the adjustment, the driver pulled ahead, and by lap 70, he passed Marcos Ambrose for the lead. He once again took the lead during lap 172, and stayed in front for the final 28 laps.
