John Travolta is being sued by author Robert Randolph, who is claiming the ‘Savages’ star spread lies about his mental health in order to diminish his credibility, TMZ is reporting. Randolph wrote a book, ‘You’ll Never Spa in This Town Again,’ which details Travolta’s alleged sexual exploits with other men, including himself. Randolph also claims in the book that he personally witnessed the actor engage in the sexual encounters at various bathhouses.
Randolph is claiming in his lawsuit that as he was releasing his book, Travolta’s attorney, Marty Singer, set on a public relations attack. The author added that Singer falsely claimed he had mental issues and spent time in a mental institution.
Randolph, who’s using Travolta and Singer for unspecified damages, claims the attack was put into motion to persuade the public that he’s an unreliable source. The writer also said Travolta and Singer are encouraging people not to buy his book, and the plan worked, as retailers were deterred from carrying it.
A rep for Travolta issued a statement about the lawsuit, saying it’s absurd. “The suit is based on a privileged communication, and it will promptly be thrown out by the court.” The statement also said “to evaluate the credibility of (Robert) Randolph and his ridiculous lawsuit one need look no further than his own statements published on his website stating that he sustained ‘permanent brain damage’ and had to ‘retrain’ his brain.’”
Singer also released a statement, saying “this is a ridiculous lawsuit…We intend to sue the attorneys for malicious prosecution after the court promptly dismisses this baseless lawsuit.”
