The stop-motion animated film “Frankenweenie,” Tim Burton’s long-gestating feature film version of his 1984 live-action short film, will make its world premiere at this year’s Fantastic Fest!
The world premiere will take place September 20, the opening night of Fantastic Fest, at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar.
“Tim Burton stands as a titan of modern genre cinema,” said Fantastic Fest Co-founder and Creative Director Tim League. “To world premiere the feature adaptation of his early beloved short is a huge honor for me personally and for the festival in general,” he said.
In honor of Fantastic Fest, an official Mondo poster for the film festival has been released, created by artist Mike Saputo. You can see the special poster below the post, as well as an official still from the movie.
“Frankenweenie” tells the story of a boy named Victor who, after mourning the loss of his beloved dog, decides to bring him back to life. However, there are dire consequences. You can learn more about the film by going to the official site.
