Justin Bieber was cited this morning for speeding on the 101 freeway in Los Angeles, and the witness who called 911 said the singer should have been arrested, TMZ is reporting. The witness, L.A. City Councilman Dennis Zine, who was an LAPD motor officer for 18 years, was on the freeway when he saw Bieber in his chrome Fisker Karma. Zine said the singer was driving at speeds that exceeded 100 mph.
Zine added that Bieber should have also been stripped of his driving privileges. He said that while the singer was trying to get away from paparazzi, he was “driving like a maniac. He was weaving in and out of traffic. There was hardly any space between cars as he weaved from lane to lane.”
The councilman added that if he was on patrol, “I would have arrested him for reckless driving. I was going 60 and he drove by me like he was in a rocket ship.”
But Zine also said that the paparazzi were incredibly irresponsible. They were driving on the should of the freeway and caused an extreme hazard. After Bieber was pulled over, at least four photographers swarmed his car.
The singer’s manager, Scooter Braun, told TMZ that Zine is just looking for a headline. Braun added that his client was cited for driving 80 mph, and was driving so fast because he was being chased by photographers.
