The Los Angeles County Coroner has begun working on the autopsy of Sylvester Stallone’s late son Sage, TMZ is reporting. The autopsy on the 36-year-old is expected to be completed sometime today, but it’s believed that he died of a drug overdose. The cause of death won’t be revealed for a few weeks, until toxicology test results are completed.
Police believe Sage’s death was accidental, as no note was found on the scene. His body was discovered on Friday by the maid in his home. Sage’s attorney, George Braunstein, said there weren’t any indications that anything was wrong in his client’s life. He was also reportedly set to marry his longtime girlfriend in a few days in Las Vegas.
Braunstein added that he believes the death was some sort of accident. He insisted his client didn’t have any problems with drugs, and that Sage didn’t even drink.
But Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said authorities found prescription bottles, but no foul play, during their investigation. Winter didn’t specify how many bottles and what type of medication there were, or if they even played a part.
Sylvester had been at San Diego Comic Con to promote his upcoming ensemble action film ‘The Expendables 2′ when his son died. The actor is “devastated and grief-stricken,” his rep, Michelle Bega, said.
