The cast of tributes is still in the casting stages, and today, it’s been announced that Amanda Plummer has been cast as Wiress in Lionsgate’s “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”

The character Wiress has been described as eccentric, earning the nickname “Nuts” from fellow tributes. She also doesn’t communicate in the traditional way, and her observations and contributions prove to be valuable resources in the Quarter Quell edition of the 75th Hunger Games.

Plummer is known for her award nominated roles in “The Fisher King” and “Pulp Fiction”; her next film is as the title character in the upcoming film “Abigail Harms.” Plummer has also won Tony Awards for her work on and off Broadway.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire continues the story of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), who have come home from winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games:

“THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.”

The film will be directed by Francis Lawrence, and will come to theaters November 22, 2013. You can learn more about the film’s casting news at CatchingFireCasting.com.
