Writer-director Jennifer Lynch’s horror-thriller ‘Chained,’ starring Vincent D’Onofrio, Gina Phillips, Conor Leslie, Jake Weber and Julia Ormand, is set to be released on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD on October 2. Pre-book for the home release of the Anchor Bay Films movie, which will be sold for $29.99 for the Blu-ray Combo Pack and $26.98 for the DVD, begins on September 5.
‘Chained’ follows eight-year-old Tim, played by Evan Bird, as he returns home from the movies with his mother, Sarah, portrayed by Ormond. The two are picked up by a psychotic cab driver, Bob, played by D’Onofrio. Bob murders Sarah and keeps Tim as his unwilling protegee, making him clean the mess after every kill.
After a few aborted escape attempts, Bob chains Tim, who he renames Rabbit, allowing him just enough room to move freely in the house. As Rabbit grows older, Bob teaches him anatomy and human behavior, and encourages him to start his own killing spree. As a teenager, Rabbit must decide whether he should follow in Bob’s footsteps, or make one final attempt to flee.
The Blu-ray and DVD include several bonus features, including the scene that prompted the MPAA to give ‘Chained’ an NC-17 rating. The special features also include a feature-length audio commentary by Lynch and D’Onofrio, the alternated unrated version of ‘Mary’s Murder’ and the original theatrical trailer.
