Singer and actor Nick Jonas of The Jonas Brothers has dropped word that he is in the running to become the next possible ‘American Idol’ judge alongside the likes of pop diva Mariah Carey. In the last few days the 19-year old Jonas stated that he is currently in talks with the show runners at Fox and could be taking the empty seat left behind by Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler. Breaking the news on Twitter, Jonas shared with fans this past Saturday, August 4th – “The rumors are true. I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol. And it would be a dream come true if it happens. #nickonidol.” Apparently Jonas received an overabundance from support, tweeting later, “Loved seeing all your amazing response to #NickOnIdol keep it coming!”
Since Jonas has shared the news with fans, Us Weekly has spoken with a source that said, “[American Idol producers] think he can help bring that younger demo to the show”. If Nick does sign on the dotted line the Disney star will have to balance his musical career with his role as a judge on the show. The Jonas Brothers are currently working in the studio on a follow up album to their last release, 2010′s ‘Lines, Vines and Trying Times’.
