‘Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark’ will be released for an exclusive one-week engagement in select IMAX theaters beginning on September 7. Director Steven Spielberg and executive producer George Lucas have completely restored the action adventure film for the exclusive IMAX release and subsequent debut on Blu-ray. Tickets and a list of participating theaters are available on IMAX’s official website.
The IMAX release of ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience. The crystal-clear images will be coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and digital audio.
Spielberg said that when he saw the “stunning quality of the picture and heard the enhanced sound in an IMAX theatre, I was quite literally blown away.” The filmmaker added that he hopes “that all audiences will enjoy the experience as much as I did.”
The highly-anticipated September 18 release of the ‘Indiana Jones’ series on Blu-ray, titled ‘Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventures,’ will feature seven houses of bonus material. The extras include a new two-part documentary, titled ‘On Set with Raiders of the Lost Ark-From Jungle to Desert and from Adventures to Legend.’ There’s also nearly an hour of rarely seen footage from the set of the film and archival interviews with Spielberg, Lucas and main star Harrison Ford.
