Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of the late Whitney Houston, has been relying on her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, for support since her mother’s February death, Celebuzz is reporting. Nick’s grandmother, Maxine Gordon, said Brown has been doing okay since Houston’s death, and she’s “on the right path.” She added that if it wasn’t for Nick, “I think it would have been a different outcome for her.”
However, Brown’s relationship with Nick has stirred up controversy, since Houston informally adopted him when he was 12-years-old. But Maxine said the two are “doing fine together as a couple.” Maxine added that was difficult for Nick after Houston died because he was one of the people who saw her in the bathroom in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Maxine also insisted that Nick’s not engaged to Brown, even after she was seen wearing her mother’s ring on her left hand ring finger. Maxine’s denial comes after Brown’s maternal grandmother, Cissy Houston, said she was worried about her granddaughter’s romantic relationship with Nick.
While Maxine is supportive of her grandson’s relationship with Brown, she said she was concerned about Houston’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown. He checked himself into rehab last week as part of a plea deal for his March DUI arrest.
Maxine said Bobby “needs to get help and stay in rehab until he is fully recovered. The man needs to be accountable to someone.” When Brown heard of her father’s current stint in rehab, she tweeted “I love my father, very much and wish him well.”
