‘New Girl’ star Max Greenfield thinks playing playboy millionaire Christian Grey in the film adaptation of author E.L. James’ ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ trilogy would be the role of a lifetime, Celebuzz is reporting. The actor told Celebuzz that he wants “to audition for the movie. I think I’d be great in it!”
When it came to who would co-star as the lead female character, Anastasia Steele, in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey,’ Greenfield said he wants ‘Girls’ star Lena Dunham for the role. He added he would also love to appear on her hit HBO series, and he thinks “she’s fantastic.”
Greenfield said he would also like to collaborate on the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ film with Judd Apatow. “Me, Lena and Judd….I’m calling whoever owns the rights and making this happen,” he said.
When he read ‘Fifty Shades of Grey,’ Greenfield said he thought “what a comedy! I think maybe I can bring a little bit of validity to the situation.” He joked that he only accepted the role on ‘New Girl’ so that he “would be enough of a commodity to get the role of christian Grey….I’d probably retire after I did that just because I think my performance would be spot-on.”
Greenfield added that he hasn’t read anything in any of the ‘New Girl Season 2 scripts that deals with ‘Fifty Shades of Grey.’ “But I’m sure that it’s going to come up. If we were going to do it, we’d have to dedicate an entire episode to it and go all out,” he added.
