LeAnn Rimes checked into rehab after being cyber bullied and being the victim of abuse on Twitter, Celebuzz is reporting. It was revealed yesterday that the 30-year-old country singer voluntarily entered a 30-day in-patient treatment facility to learn how to cope with anxiety and stress.
Rimes’ rep said the singer “is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanism.” The unrelenting abuse Rimes experienced on Twitter and the Internet lasted for months, and the criticisms were reportedly offensive.
One of the most abusive websites was titled LunaticLeAnnRimes, which posted unrelenting messages about the singer and attacked her appearance in photos wit her husband, actor Eddie Cibrian. The singer married the former ‘Playboy Club’ star after meeting him on the set of their 2009 made-for-television film ‘Northern Lights.’ The two were both married to other people at the time they met; Rimes was married to her former backup dancer, Dean Sherenet, while Cibrian was married to ‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star Brandi Glanville, the mother of his children.
Other abuse aimed towards Rimes came in a series of Twitter messages. Fellow bloggers labeled the singer “chicken sh*t” and a “psychotic bitch.”
The treatment comes after Rimes, who has been preparing for the release of her latest studio album, ‘Spitfire,’ spoke to Celebuzz in an exclusive interview on Wednesday about her recent 30th birthday. She gave no hint about her impending treatment, instead saying “I’m so ready for my 30s! This decade is going to be the best yet. I’m so content and not depressed at all about it. I can’t slow it down, so I’m embracing it.”
