‘The Waterboy’ star Blake Clark, a military veteran who served in Vietnam, knows first-hand about the horrors of the war, TMZ is reporting. The actor was spotted at LAX over the weekend and started talking about the politics and casualties of war.
Clark, who also voiced Slinky the dog in ‘Toy Story 3,’ said “I’m not a socialist. I killed socialists…I was in Vietnam…I was an infantry platoon leader.”
The ‘Boy Meets World’ actor was involved in combat missions, and also said he killed people during the war. He added “That’s what you do in combat…do don’t dart ‘em and tag ‘em and follow their migration…you kill ‘em.”
Clark also said he was a platoon leader, “so my job wasn’t actually to shoot people, although I did.” He said his job “was to command the platoon in combat, call in artillery and mortars and air strikes.”
When TMZ asked if Clark would want to participate in a movie about Vietnam, he said “A lot of times directors don’t want somebody (with actual war experience) because they think that I would try to direct the movie … which I wouldn’t.”
