The Thompson family home, as featured on the hit TLC reality series ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,’ was broken into on August 27 when the family was out of town, Celebuzz is reporting. Police reports confirm family matriarch, June “Mama” Shannon, contacted officers in McIntyre, Georgia, to report the possible break-in. She noticed the side door of the house was open when they returned from the vacation.
The report also noted that the seven-year-old title star, Alana, has garnered so much attention since the show premiered last month that she now has her own bodyguard. Alana and her family, including her 33-year-old mother; her 40-year-old father, Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson; and sisters Anna “Chickadee” Shannon, 17, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, 15, and Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, 12, were provided with a security detail by the local police department before the break-in even occurred.
The officer assigned to the family checked their home before they returned from their trip. The officer discovered the door leading into the kitchen was left open. The door was unlocked, but no intruders were found inside the residence, according to the report.
Chief Amerson of the McIntyre Police said the incident is being treated as a burglary, but nothing was stolen from the house. “There were no signs of forced entry,” the chief also confirmed.
The report also states that Shannon felt something was amiss when she saw the kitchen cabinets were open when the family returned home. She said to her knowledge, the cabinet doors were closed when they left for vacation.
After the news of the break-in was publicized, the Thompsons’ neighbors said they weren’t worried about another potential attack. One neighbor, Sandra Shauger, said “it’s a small town, so we hear everything.” She added that she enjoys ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,’ and isn’t worried that it makes the locals look bad.
