Anne Hathaway married her longtime boyfriend, Adam Shulman, on the scenic central California coast last night, less than 12 months after they got engaged, Celebuzz is reporting. The Academy Award-nominated actress and her actor-turned jewelry designer husband exchanged their vows just after 5pm PT in Big Sur.
Hathaway and Shulman were surrounded by family members and friends as they said “I Do” in a private marquee next to an old barn. The 29-year-old ‘Dark Knight Rises’ star wore a custom-made Valentino gown, while the 31-year-old ‘Dukes of Hazard: The Beginning’ star wore a traditional tuxedo. The two prepared for the wedding in a large suite at the five-star luxury hotel, the Ventana Inn and Spa.
The location of the wedding was kept secret from the 180 guests, who were taken to the venue via shuttles. They were required to wear bracelets to gain access to the buses. The reception followed the ceremony in the marquee, and featured a jazz band and DJ.
Hathaway and Shulman began dating in November 2008. He proposed in November 2011, after which the actress told PEOPLE that she was a “romantic at heart.” She also described her new husband as “the best.”
After Shulman proposed, Hathaway told USA Today that “relationships are work, but love is a gift.” She also quoted the band Bright Eyes, saying “‘I’d rather be working for a paycheck than waiting to win the lottery…That’s the way I feel about love.” The actress added that her love live recently became calm, after being in doubt about love for years.
Hathaway also said she’d like to have children with Shulman, but further in their relationship. “I’d like to have kids in 10 years,” she told the newspaper. “I don’t know about five, but 10.”
