Anne Hathaway married Adam Shulman last night in a lavish, $1 million wedding with a white, pink and rustic theme, Celebuzz is reporting. The wedding and reception were held at a romantic marquee next to an old barn, set against the backdrop of the Big Sur, California coastline.
The private marquee was built especially for the reception, and held 18 tables, which sat ten people each. The tables, which each had 12 mini centerpieces, sat amongst more than $100,000 of flowers.
The flowers were arranged by The Velvet Garden, a floral design studio that specializes in one-of-a-kind designs. The arrangements were transported from Los Angeles to Big Sur for the reception. The company previously created arrangements for the weddings of Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon and Natalie Portman. The flowers reportedly took over a week to create.
The wedding between ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ actress and her actor-turned-jewelry designer husband was designed by the same planner who arranged Portman’s August 4 nuptials to choreographer Benjamin Millepied. The San Francisco-based jazz trio Americano Social Club, who found out they were hired for Hathaway’s wedding half an hour before the rception began, played during the first hour. A Los Angeles DJ then played for the rest of the night.
Two photographers used vintage cameras to keep with the rustic theme of the wedding. The Academy Award-nominated actress wore a custom Valentino gown, while the ‘Dukes of Hazard: The Beginning’ actor wore a traditional tuxedo.
Hathaway and Shulman prepared for the wedding in the five-star luxury hotel, the Ventana Inn and Spa. They started the weekend with a rehearsal dinner at the hotel. However, the location of the ceremony and reception was kept secret from guests, who were taken to the venue via shuttles. Guests had to wear neon green bracelets to be allowed on the buses.
