PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew and Doritos have officially announced that Double XP will be back to give fans the chance to experience the anticipated ‘Halo 4’ before it’s released in stores on November 6. Gamers can open an account at DEWXP.com or DORITOSXP.com, where they’ll be able to unlock and load future XP matches. The matches can be redeemed to amplify the multi-player experience, accelerate ‘Halo 4’ specializations and reveal new gear and weapons.

For the first time in ‘Halo’ history, players can preselect their arsenal before entering the gaming landscape. They can also customize their armor. The ‘Halo’ series is known for allowing gamers to not only score gear in the games, but also create the gear they want.

While the return of Double XP, which was first introduced in 2007 with the launch of ‘Halo 3,’ is being rejoiced by fans, it will only be available for a limited time. In order to reap the benefits of Double XP, fans can buy specially-marked 24-packs of Mountain Dew and 10.5 or 11.5 oz. bags of Doritos at Walmart to obtain Mega XP-12 matches of Double XP. The store will also sell ‘Halo 4’ games for a limited time with inserts featuring a unique code. Matched with the Double XP codes, the game’s unique code will feature 38 matches of Double XP.

Brett O’Brien, the Vice President of Marketing for Mountain Dew, said “we know gamers bring an awesome amount of passion to DEW.” He added the company’s “excited to help them level-up their Halo experience like never before thanks to Double XP.”

Ram Krishnan, the Vice President of Marketing for Frito-Lay North America, said “partnering with the biggest games of the year, like ‘Halo 4,’ Doritos knows its consumers live for the game.” He also said “we’re all about taking it to the next level.”
