Philanthropist and the former host of “The Price is Right” Bob Barker and CSI actress Jorja Fox were honored by Animal Defenders International during the organization’s Lion Ark Night October 13. According to Ecorazzi, the event was created in order to celebrate the successful rescue mission of 29 circus lions from Bolivia to the U.S.
Barker was given the international Lord Houghton Award for Services to Animal Welfare. This prestigious honor is only awarded by the organization every four years. Fox was awarded the ADI Animal Champion Award for her work with animal protection, especially animals used for entertainment.
Other members of Hollywood in attendance included Carrie Ann Inaba, Eric Roberts, Mindy Sterling, Corey Feldman, Elisabetta Canalis, Kate Linder, Tonya Kay, James Reynolds and Dr. Jenn Berman.
The event, a first for ADI, also gave an inside look as to what drives the organization’s founders, Tim Phillips and Jan Creamer. Both have been undercover, documenting the horrors of inside animal laboratories, fur farms, slaughterhouses, circuses, performing animal suppliers, animal dealers and more. They have taken their videotaped findings to governments, legislators and media.
