Several actors from the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy have expressed their support for Disney to continue the acclaimed action adventure fantasy franchise, TMZ is reporting. Peter Mayhew, who played Chewbacca in the first three movies, said he’s excited Disney will continue the film series.

“I have no doubt Disney will respect and continue the legacy of Lucasfilm,” Mayhew said. “I have worked with Disney for many years during their Star Wars Weekends Celebration and seen how much they love the films and the fans.”

Mayhew added that he was impressed with the way Disney is including former Marvel Comics president and chairman Stan Lee in the ‘Avengers’ movies. He also said Disney “has an excellent track record for listening to the creator’s voice.”

Ahmed Best, the voice of Jar Jar Binks, said ‘Star Wars’ writer, producer and director George Lucas “has always been a hero and a mentor. I am happy that the saga will continue.”

Another ‘Star Wars’ actor happy to see the franchise continue is Daniel Logan, who portrayed the young Boba Fett in ‘Episode II. He said, “I think Disney acquiring Lucasfilm is a wonderful thing! There are exciting times ahead for Star Wars fans!”
