“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” aren’t being filmed in the continental United States unlike the first “Hunger Games” film. “Catching Fire” is still in the U.S. but instead, “Catching Fire” is being filmed in the island state of Hawaii.

According to Examiner.com, the final arena scenes in the third Quarter Quell will be filmed on the Big Island, as stated in a tweet by Sam Claflin (Finnick Odair). According to Claflin, the cast is now set to travel to both Kauai and Oahu. Earlier news of Hawaii being chosen to be the backdrop of the arena scenes was released in October. “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” also stars Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth and will be in theaters November 22, 2013:

“THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.”
