Susan Luckey, the actress who famously portrayed Mayor Shinn’s daughter Zaneeta in the classic 1962 comedy musical ‘The Music Man,’ died early Thursday morning in her Los Angeles home at the age of 74, TMZ is reporting. Luckey’s daughter, Shayna Reynolds, confirmed the news, but said her mother hadn’t been suffering from any long-term illness. Reynolds said her mother’s death was the result of old age.
Luckey didn’t want a traditional funeral, and her body was instead cremated. Her remains were placed in a decorative box and put where other family members have been laid to rest.
Besides portraying Zaneeta, Luckey was also known for her role as Louise Bigelow in the 1956 musical drama ‘Carousel.’ She also portrayed one of the Native Americans in the original Broadway production of ‘Peter Pan.’
