The paintings of Abstract Expressionist artist Clyfford Still served as the inspiration for the new Lela Rose Pre-Fall 2013 collection, which is now on sale. Still’s use of jagged edges and large expanses of color inspired many of the clothing’s prints and fabrics, as well as their dripped paint embroideries. The artist’s elements are featured on Lela Rose’s rough-edged, graphic lace overlays on sheaths and as driplike embroideries on classic T-shires. The designer’s pants, jackets and tweed cocktail dresses were done in a rich mix of colors and textures, which also mirror Still’s art.
Frequent celebrity wearers of the Lela Rose brand include Mandy Moore, Emily Blunt, Claire Danes, Julie Bowen, Eva Amurri, Lauren Conrad, Mariska Hargitay, Whitney Cummings and Shay Mitchell. Lela Rose is known for combining whimsy and elegant designs with brilliant color and handcrafted details to create modern American fashion.
