A new red band trailer for the critically acclaimed crime drama thriller ‘Killer Joe,’ featuring commentary by Gina Gershon, who plays Sharla Smith in the film, has been released by Lionsgate. The actress discusses her co-stars in the movie, including Matthew McConaughey, Juno Temple, Emile Hirsch and Thomas Haden Church, who she said makes her laugh all the time. Gershon also spoke about what a great director William Friedkin, who rose to fame helming ‘The Exorcist,’ was on ‘Killer Joe,’ and how the film is unlike anything else she’s ever seen.

‘Killer Joe’ is now available on Blu-ray, DVD, VOD and Pay-Per-View. The Unrated Director’s Cut of the film is available on Blu-ray and DVD, while the rated-R version is also be available on DVD. The Blu-ray and DVD will be available for the suggested retail price of $24.99 and $19.98, respectively.

The Blu-ray and DVD will include several bonus features, including the Red Band Theatrical Trailer, the ‘Southern Fried Hospitality: From Stage to Screen’ featurette and the SXSW Q&A with Cast and SXSW Intro by Friedkin. The Unrated Director’s Cut will also feature Audio Commentary with Friedkin.

‘Killer Joe,’ which was an official selection at the Venice International Film Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival, follows the title character (McConaughey), a Dallas detective who doubles as a hit man. Chris (Hirsch) hires Joe to kill his mother in order to collect her life insurance and pay his debts. Unable to pay for the service upfront, Joe takes Chris’ sister Dottie (Temple) as a retainer until he can be paid.
