Justin Bieber’s hamster Pac is doing well with his new owner, Victoria Blair, who is a fan of the ‘As Long As You Love Me’ singer, Celebuzz is reporting. Blair insists Pac is fine after the California Hamster Association (CHA) said Bieber’s decision to give the hamster to his fan at a recent concert in Atlanta was animal cruelty.
Blair added that Pac sleeps during the day and plays at night, and he’s “acting like a normal hamster.” She added that “I worship that little hamster—I love him.”
The 18-year-old Alabama native also said she bought Pac a ball to run around in. “He stays right beside my bed. He’ll wake me up and roll around. The next big thing I’m going to get is a hamster playground,” she said.
Blair added that she’s following Bieber’s lead, by keeping the hamster in a similar environment to what the singer had him in. “Justin took him to meet his fans. So I take him to the park and I let people pet him…He goes with me everywhere. He’s like my baby,” she also said.
Bieber also gave Blair instructions on how to take care of Pac, including that he loves to play with his ball and eat. She added that she cherishes the hamster, as she knows how much the singer loved his pet.
Despite Blair’s claims that Pac is adjusting to his environment, the CHA initially said Bieber shouldn’t have given him away, as hamsters “often succumb quickly to illness and death” when faced with “sudden environmental change.”
But the organization’s David G. Imber of the CHA said the organization has amended its opinion of Bieber giving Pac to Blair. “We have no ill will toward Mr. Bieber,” Imber said. “Our understanding is that owing to the way [Blair] received the hamster and from whom, the recipient is apparently doing her best to do right by the animal, and for that I suppose we could actually thank Mr. Bieber. But…in most cases the situation would almost certainly turn tragic.”
Blair hopes to reunite Pac with his original owner on January 16, when the singer does a show near her hometown in Birmingham. “My goal is to bring Pac and see Justin at his concert,” she said.
