Mel Gibson’s 94-year-old father, Hutton Gibson, is now officially divorced from his wife, 78-year-old Teddy Joye Hicks, but she left the marriage with sufficient money, TMZ is reporting. After the divorce was finalized on Wednesday, Hicks reportedly had over $640,00 in cash and savings as separate property, and she is able to keep her Lincoln Town Car.
Hicks’ fortune is sufficiently larger than Hutton’s savings, as he left the marriage with just $22,595. However, Mel is paying his father’s bills. The former couple is equally splitting their $22,000 in community property, and will also get to keep their own social security benefits.
Hutton and Hicks married in 2001, and separated last May. He filed for divorce a month later, and the separation became nasty. The ‘Machete Kills’ actor even believed that Hicks was trying to cut off his father’s medications, in order to accelerate his death.
