Just when you thought you couldn’t get any more excited for “Star Trek Into Darkness,” the excitement keeps building! If you hadn’t heard yet, the film is now coming to theaters a whole two days earlier! That’s great for me, because I’ve been impatiently counting down the days until the original May 17 release. One thing though–I do know why the date was moved up–to increase fan anticipation and hopefully boost ticket sales–but it just seems a little funny in retrospect. Why not just move the film up to May 15 in the first place?

According to CinemaBlend, the new Star Trek Into Darkness App revealed that the film would be released earlier than expected. Tickets are now available through the app. However, that’s not the only thing you can expect–the app promises even more surprises as we get closer to the release date. “Star Trek Into Darkness” is directed by JJ Abrams and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alice Eve, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban and Anton Yelchin. Captain Kirk (Pine) is facing the biggest trial of his short career as captain with the mysterious arrival of John Harrison (Cumberbatch). As stated above, you can now expect the film in theaters May 15.
