Six-time Grammy Award-winner Toni Braxton revealed that she has lost interest in recording music while on ‘The Wendy Williams Show‘ yesterday. The singer, who was promoting her new Lifetime movie, ‘Twist of Faith,’ which premieres tonight at 8 ET, told host Wendy Williams that she sang in the film, but she will no longer make albums. She added that she will tour occasionally in the future, but songs don’t impact her anymore.
Braxton said she made the decision, even as record companies were calling her to produce her next record. She added that she has fallen out of love with recording music. She revealed that she can only tour occasionally, because she has battled with health issues recently, including lupus and having blood clots in her lungs.
The actress, who plays Nina in the Paul A. Kaufman-directed drama, also said she is somewhat similiar to her character, Nina, in ‘Twist of Faith.’ Both Braxton and Nina are daughters of a preacher, and Nina is a teacher, which Braxton studied to be before she started singing. While they’re both single mothers, unlike Nina, the singer doesn’t feel comfortable dating. She said she feels uncomfortable revealing herself on dates.
Braxton told Williams that she has tried self-help books, but she really needs someone to show her how to date. That came from not liking going through her divorce from ex-husband Keri Lewis, during which she became angry at herself.
Since she feels uncomfortable sharing her personal issues, the was hesitant to do the upcoming third season of her hit WE reality show, ‘Braxton Family Values.’ However, Braxton said she was contractually obligated to participate. She revealed there will be more drama on the new season, which will focus on her sister Tracy, who has lost weight since last season.
Braxton also discussed her two sons, 11-year-old Denim and 9-year-old Diezel, saying she gives them a weekly allowance. But she makes them both give her about $3 every week, so they can learn about paying rent and responsibility.
