CBS Films is having a good day today; they announced they have acquired the US rights to “Inside Llewyn Davis.” The film, written by the Coen Brothers (Joel and Ethan by their first names) and produced by the Coens as well as Scott Rudin, who worked with the Coens on “No Country for Old Men” and “True Grit.” While CBS Films is handling the US rights, Studio Canal will handle the international distribution and foreign sales.
“Inside Llewyn Davis” stars Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, F. Murray Abraham and Justin Timberlake. The film tells the story of an aspiring musician in the 1960s:
“INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS follows an aspiring singer-songwriter (Isaac) as he navigates the 1960s folk-music scene in New York City’s Greenwich Village. Grammy®-winner T Bone Burnett produced the film’s soundtrack which includes music performed by, among others, Oscar Isaac, Marcus Mumford and Justin Timberlake. Robert Graf served as executive producer, T Bone Burnett served as executive music producer and Marcus Mumford as associate music producer.”
Obviously, the soundtrack is something that’s going to be a big selling point for the film. Also, the other obvious big thing about the film is Timberlake. Either you’re a fan of Timberlake as an actor or not, but you never know–this film could be the one that will finally change the majority of people’s minds about Timberlake’s acting talent.
