Diane Lane has filed legal documents to divorce her husband of nine years, Josh Brolin, TMZ is reporting. The ‘Man of Steel’ star filed the papers against the ‘Gangster Squad’ actor on February 15 in L.A. County Superior Court, and cited irreconcilable differences.
The actress requested to have her name restored back to Diane Lane, as she is currently known as Diane Lane Brolin in her private life. Lane is saying that she and Brolin have been separated for some time, but the date of legal separation was listed as February 13.
The news of the pending divorce comes after Brolin was arrested for spousal battery four months after they married in 2004. However, Lane recanted her story and charges were never filed against Brolin.
The actor was later arrested in Louisiana in 2008 for fighting in a bar. Alcohol was involved in the incident, though the charges were later dismissed. When he was arrested, Brolin told his friend, actor Jeffrey Wright, that “My wife is gonna be so happy.” The ‘Labor Day’ star was also arrested in Santa Monica this past New Year’s Day for public intoxication.
Despite Brolin’s arrests, the couple reportedly didn’t have any problems in their marriage. They’re reportedly ending the marriage amicably.
