It wasn’t too long ago that a Kickstarter fund had begun for a “Veronica Mars” film. Now, only 11 to 12 hours later, the movie not only met its goal of $2 million to get the film greenlit, but it did so in record time!

Just as a little background before I go any further; in case you aren’t in the know, “Veronica Mars” was a hit show on UPN and The CW during 2004 and 2007, starring Kristen Bell as a high school student moonlighting as a private detective. The series has a cult following and that following is, apparently, still going strong many years later.

The Kickstarter fund for the film was started by series creator Rob Thomas and Bell. According to Coming Soon, the terms for the Kickstarter was that if Thomas and Bell were able to reach their intended goal, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution will put the film on their production slate and will also market, promote and distribute the film. The film will be released for a limited time in theaters early 2014 before making its way to VOD and other digital platforms.

Congratulations, “Veronica Mars” fans! You made your say heard! Hopefully, the film will be everything you want it to be.
