“The Life of Pi” is certainly an amazing film with terrific special effects. I suppose one could even call it a special effects film first before calling it a traditional film; heck, it’s being heralded as the next “Avatar,” which was all about the effects. While those computer generated images are amazing, there’s also magic that can be done with paint, chalk and a sidewalk.

Tracy Lee Stum and her team of artists were commissioned by Twentieth Century Fox to create a spectacular piece of 3D chalk art based on “Life of Pi.” The scene they chose, which has a whale jumping over Pi and the tiger, Richard Parker, was rendered amazingly and really shows how awesome 3D chalk art can be. Take a look at it below the post and see what you think! I think you’ll be impressed.

“Life of Pi” is directed by Ang Lee and stars Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Ayush Tandon, Gautaum Belur, Adil Hussain, Tabu, Ayan Khan, Mohd Abbas Khaleeli and Vibish Sivakumar. The film is an inspirational story about a boy who survives at see with his only companion–a viscious tiger. “Life of Pi” is out on DVD, Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and Digital HD now.
