The biggest and (in my opinion) the best trailer for “Star Trek Into Darkness” has been released. We’ve been getting hints of the story throughout the year–how this will be Kirk’s biggest test as captain, but this trailer gives an even larger sense at the dire situation Kirk has put his crew in. In this film, he’s come face to face with not only real adulthood, but also with the difficult, unpolished side of being captain. Now, Kirk is really earning his stripes.

You can take a look at the trailer below, along with the gallery of the new character posters featuring Uhura, Spock, Kirk and John Harrison.

“Star Trek Into Darkness” stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Benedict Cumberbatch, Karl Urban, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Alice Eve, Anton Yelchin and Bruce Greenwood:

In the wake of a shocking act of terror from within their own organization, the crew of The Enterprise is called back home to Earth. In defiance of regulations and with a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads his crew on a manhunt to capture an unstoppable force of destruction and bring those responsible to justice.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

The J.J. Abrams-directed film will be in select theaters in IMAX 3D May 15 and theaters everywhere May 17. You can learn more about the film at its official site.
