The finale of “Vikings,” the hit show on History, is one episode away! But the finale isn’t the only thing you have to look forward to; the upcoming eighth episode, “Sacrifice,” happens to be one that is a favorite of most of the cast and the show’s creator, Michael Hirst. The episode guest stars Donal Logue as a Scandinavian king who is trying to gain a very important ally in Earl Ragnar. Also, Ragnar, Lagertha and Athelstan make a pilgrimage to Uppsalla to sacrifice and give thanks. Some of this is probably because Ragnar and Lagertha are still trying to come to terms with Lagertha’s miscarriage. Meanwhile, Athelstan learns more about the strength of his Christian faith:

“The traditional pilgrimage to Uppsalla to thank the gods brings a torrent of emotions for Ragnar, Lagertha, and Athelstan. Ragnar, pulling farther away from his wife goes to make peace with the death of his unborn son. Lagertha, still reeling from her miscarriage, wants to find out from the gods if more sons are in her future. As the Vikings come together to sacrifice and give thanks to their gods, Athelstan discovers just how strong his Christian faith still is.”

Check out the promo for the episode below. “Sacrifice” airs this Sunday, April 21 at 10/9c on History.
