Next summer is when one of the most-anticipated films will be coming to theaters. Focus Features has announced that “Fifty Shades of Grey” will make its theatrical debut August 1, 2014.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s release date will make the film not in direct competition with other blockbuster films coming out that summer. I would think that the film wouldn’t need to have to worry about being overrun by other blockbusters, seeing how big of a phenomenon the EL James book was when it was first released.

The “mommy porn”-based movie will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson with a script written by Kelly Marcel. The film will be produced by Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti. So far, no one actor or actress has been officially announced as part of the cast (although there have been several rumors).

If you’re not up on what “Fifty Shades of Grey” is about, the story follows a literature student named Anastasia Steele who meets a handsome, tormented, and extremely sexually overpowering Christian Grey.

What do you think about the film adaptation? Who do you hope to play Anastasia and Christian? And just what do you think the rating of the film will be? Give your opinions in the comments section below.
