“The White Queen” stars Rebecca Ferguson as Elizabeth Woodville, the commoner who married King Edward IV, played by Max Irons. However, Woodville’s ascension to power isn’t without manipulation, seduction and hatred surrounding her, thanks to two other woman vying for the throne–Margaret Beaufort (Amanda Hale) and Anne Neville (Faye Marsay).

Here’s more on “The White Queen”:

“The year is 1464, before the Tudor dynasty ruled the country, and war has been ravaging throughout England over who is the rightful King. It is a bitter dispute between two sides of the same family, The House of York and The House of Lancaster.

The House of York’s young and handsome Edward IV is crowned King of England with the help of the master manipulator, Lord Warwick “The Kingmaker.” But when Edward falls in love with a beautiful Lancastrian commoner, Elizabeth Woodville, Warwick’s plan to control the throne comes crashing down.

A violent, high-stakes struggle ensues between Elizabeth, her most fierce adversary, Lancastrian Margaret Beaufort, and Anne Neville, the pawn in her father’s power game – each woman vying for the crown.”

Starz has released two new videos about the upcoming show. One focuses on Philippa Gregory–the author of “The White Queen” novel–and lead writer/associate producer Emma Frost talking about turning the novel into a series. The second video focuses on the scheming noblewomen of the series.

“The White Queen” will air on Starz Aug. 10 at 8 pm ET/7 pm CT, followed by encore airings of the episode at 9, 10 & 11pm.
