Jason Bateman is using bad words in the new official red band trailer for his directorial debut. The trailer has been released by ‘Bad Words’ distributor, Focus Features, in anticipation of the comedy’s March 2014 release.

The film follows Bateman’s character, Guy Trilby, a 40-year-old who finds a loophole in the rules of The Golden Quill national spelling bee. Guy decides to cause trouble in the contest by hijacking the competition. Contest officials, outraged parents and overly ambitious 8th graders are no match for Guy, who ruthlessly crushes their dreams of victory and fame.

A reporter (Kathryn Hahn) sets out to uncover Guy’s true motives. However, Guy concerns himself more with forming an unlikely alliance with a competitor, awkward 10-year-old Chaitanya (Rohan Chand), who’s completely unfazed by his take-no-prisoners approach to life.
