There are a lot of people who are vying for gender equality, but one of the most high-profile is Beyoncé, who has now used her star power to help highlight the issues facing both women and men.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Beyoncé has written an essay for The Shriver Report, a “groundbreaking investigation into the millions of women who are doing it all and barely scraping by[.]” The report “combines research, analysis and ideas from the nation’s top academic institutions and think tanks, essays by leading thinkers, stories of real women struggling with our modern economy, and a comprehensive poll.” And now, the report includes the likes of King Bey herself.

In her essay, “Gender Equality is a Myth,” Beyoncé writes how people should stop buying into the myth that gender equality is a reality. “Today, women make up half of the U.S. workforce, but the average woman earns only 77 percent of what the average working man makes,” she writes, stating that both men and women should come together and work toward a better society for everyone, including young girls.

Want to read the essay for yourself? You’ll have to buy The Shriver Report, which is available exclusively through Amazon’s Kindle and Kindle App.
