“Ugh,” is my reaction to news about “Fifty Shades of Grey,” I’ll be honest with you. This film just doesn’t seem to have any of the salacious stuff that the book series is famous for. The salacious stuff is the main reason people were going to see the film, but it looks like it’s going to be geared more towards average audiences rather than the audience that wants to be able to gossip/clutch pearls at the film afterwards. Basically, it just looks like another bland romance drama chick flick. Sigh.
However, if you are still hoping for something awesome from this film, here’s the latest promotional image. The image shows Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) walking into the office of Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). It’s not especially compelling, but it teases you a little bit. “Fifty Shades of Grey” is based on the popular book series by E.L. James. The film has scaled back a lot of the S&M sex featured in the book, which launched the nickname of it being “mommy porn.” The film, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, will be in theaters Valentine’s Day 2015. So there’s still a lot of time for the film to start looking a whole lot more interesting.
