It was just reported that OWN had landed a Michael Sam docuseries, but just a few days later, OWN has announced that the docuseries has been postponed.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the show has been postponed primarily due to the St. Louis Rams and the NFL wanting to keep Sam’s focus on football instead of the distractions of reality television.

“After careful consideration and discussion with the St. Louis Rams, The Untitled Michael Sam Project has been postponed, allowing Michael the best opportunity to achieve his dream of making the team,” said OWN President Erik Logan. “OWN is about elevating and empowering people to achieve their best. It’s clear that we, along with the world, recognize the important opportunity that Michael now has in this moment.” Logan also said that OWN will continue to support Sam through his journey towards playing for the Rams.

Sam’s representative Cameron Weiss also said, “After today’s meeting with the Rams, we collectively feel it is best to postpone the project. This will allow for Michael to have a total focus on football and will ensure no distractions to his teammates.”

Sam’s fans might be a bit disappointed about the show not coming as soon as expected, but as the articles state, the show is just postponed. Whenever the show decides to air, I’ll be watching it.

Will you watch the show whenever the hiatus is over? Talk about it in the comments section below.
