“Downton Abbey,” one of PBS Masterpiece’s most popular shows, is gearing up its promotion for another season. The last two seasons have been particularly tough on “Downton” fans–Lady Mary’s (Michelle Dockery) husband Matthew (Dan Stevens) and Lady Sybil (Jessica Brown Findlay) both died in very traumatic ways. The latest season involved Mary moving on without Matthew and learning how to manage the estate or, at least manage it as much as she can, considering her slightly misogynistic father, Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville),thinks she can’t.
The promotional images are below in the gallery. I think fans will like what the images tease for the next season; seems like Lady Grantham (Elizabeth McGovern) might have an interesting time with a new lordly-looking gentleman, Simon Bricker (Richard E. Grant) and is Mary gearing more towards Lord Gillingham (Tom Cullen) as her new suitor? Last season, it seemed completely unlikely. Also, will Carson (Jim Carter) and Mrs. Hughes (Phyllis Logan) become an item (I sincerely hope not; I like them better as platonic friends).
Also, there’s a funny inaccuracy in the photo of Lord Grantham and Edith (Laura Carmichael). Looks like someone left a water bottle in the photo. I wonder if someone’s getting chewed out about this right now.
“Downton Abbey” will return to PBS Masterpiece Jan. 4, 2015. The show will advance the lives of the Crawley family, the residents of Dowton Abbey, as they make it through the changing times of the 1920s. What do you think about the images? Give your opinions in the comments section below.
