Matthew McConaughey is going on a journey of life reflection in the first look image from his upcoming film, ‘The Sea of Trees.’ The photo was released from the drama’s production company, Bloom, which launched and introduced the movie at the Cannes Film Festival.
‘The Sea of Trees’ was directed by two-time Oscar-nominated filmmaker, Gus Van Sant. The movie’s Black List script was penned by Chris Sparling. Ken Kao, who works at Bloom, which is also an international sales and financing company, is producing the drama. Besides this year’s Academy Award-winning actor, the drama also stars Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe and two-time Oscar nominee Naomi Watts.
Bloom has released the following synopsis for ‘Sea of Trees’:
The film follows Arthur Brennan (McConaughey) trekking into Aokigahara, known as the Sea of Trees, a mysterious dense forest at the base of Japan’s Mount Fuji where people go to contemplate life and death. Having found the perfect place to die, Arthur encounters Takumi Nakamura (Watanabe), a Japanese man who has also lost his way. The two men begin a journey of reflection and survival, which affirms Arthur’s will to live and reconnects him to his love with his wife (Watts).
