Director James Wan is killing it this year! During the summer his horror film “The Conjuring” ripped through the box office as an unexpected hit film. A few months later, “Insidious: Chapter 2” raced to the top of box office charts. Next year, he’s positioned to be at #1 again with “Fast & Furious 7.” Although James Wan is not attached to direct, “Insidious: Chapter 3” is likely to be another high grosser for the Australian director/producer.

The third installment in the “Insidious” horror franchise received a favorable release date for April 3rd, 2015. At the moment, the only other major motion pictures opening against “Insidious: Chapter 3” is the sci-fi romance “Passengers” starring Keanu Reeves and Rachel McAdams. Guillermo del Toro’s “Crimson Peak” is slated to open sometime in April 2015.

The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. A twisted new tale of terror begins for a teenage girl and her family, predating the haunting of the Lambert family in the earlier movies and revealing more mysteries of the otherworldly realm The Further.

It’s interesting to note that “Insidious: Chapter 3” will be released as a Focus Features movie, instead of a FilmDistrict film, like the previous two films in the series. This stems from Focus Features merging with FilmDistrict, which are all under the same Universal Studio corporate umbrella.

There are no plot details available for “Insidious: Chapter 3,” but the horror movie will hit theaters everywhere on May 29, 2015.
