Rooney Mara fans will have a new film to look forward to. Jean Doumanian Productions has announced that the Academy Award nominated actress will star along with Ben Mendelsohn in the upcoming film “Blackbird.” Directing the film will be Benedict Andrews, best known for his theatrical directing career. “Blackbird” will be his first time directing a film. Shooting for “Blackbird” will begin the summer of 2015 in the UK. The film will be produced by Jean Doumanian and Patrick Daly.

Even though this will be Andrews’ film directing debut, it makes sense that he has been hired to helm the film. The film itself was originally an Olivier Award-winning play of the same name written by David Harrower. Harrower will adapt his play for the screen, for those who might be worrying about the play’s integrity translating to film, hopefully your fears have been alleviated.

Here’s more about “Blackbird”

“[T]wo people who once had a passionate affair meet again fifteen years later.
