There’s the Xbox, the DS, the Wii and now what as thought to be the latest thing in video game technology is the Oculus Rift. The Oculus Rift headset gives video gamers a completely immersive experience, but even though it’s currently the biggest fad in the video game world, there’s something even newer on the horizon, the 3DHead. You could call it “the Oculus Killer.”
The 3DHead is the latest piece of technology to come from Hologram USA, based in Beverly Hills. The company, owned by FilmOn founder Alki David, is aiming to take the video game world by storm with the 3DHead when it debuts at this year’s CES.
The headset and hand controller gives its user an immersive experience in a much different way than the Oculus Rift. The 3DHead, states TV Mix, uses a 2k resolution projection instead, with mirrors and other optics to make the user feel like they are in the game. The Oculus Rift, on the other hand, uses virtual reality technology.
The 3DHead’s hand controller is based on the same technology that fuels the virtual camera, Gamecaster’s GCS3.
You don’t have to be a gamer to use to the 3DHead either. Just like how some of America’s most popular video game consoles allow for the viewing of television programs and movies, the 3DHead also plays 3D movies, allowing movie-lovers to feel like they are right in the middle of the action.
Let’s say you wanted one of these devices. How much are you expected to pay? Right now, the hand controller is set at the pre-sale price of $595 and, as TV Mix states, the headset will probably be available for pre-sale at the same price.
