“The Walking Dead” spinoff series is shaping up! The two leads have been cast as well as the location. Here’s more of what’s in store for fans.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that the spinoff, which is currently under the name “Cobalt,” finds our new zombie survivors in Los Angeles. Cliff Curtis will star as Sean Cabrera, a teacher who is surviving the apocalypse with her ex-wife Andrea and their son. The character’s description seems a lot like the characterization of Rick Grimes from the original “Walking Dead”; according to The Hollywood Reporter, Sean is the classic Everyman–a man who has a good heart and wants to right by the people in his life.

Kim Dickens, who is known for her work on “Sons of Anarchy” and “Gone Girl,” has been cast as a guidance counselor named Nancy Tomkins. Nancy is currently dating Sean and also has two kids of her own (one of them played by “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” and “Into the Heart of the Sea” actor Frank Dillane), but while Sean is focused on doing right by people, her past is a little more complicated and it would seem her complications will create drama throughout the series. Andrea isn’t the only one creating drama; Andrea’s family will also add some interest to the proceedings as well; Dillane’s character, Nick, has been at the mercy of a drug addiction and Nancy’s daughter Ashley, played by “Into the Woods” actress Alycia Debnam Carey, wants her life to mean more and had hopes of moving to Berkeley. That is, before the zombie attack, of course. Now, everyone’s problems are stuck with them in Los Angeles as they fight for their lives.

Many have wanted to know if there were any others in America that survived the zombie attack and if so, how they were faring. Thankfully, this spinoff will bring viewers a little closer to a complete story of just what happened to America after the zombie attack.
