If you love “Frozen” or love making fun of it, Bella Thorne and Mae Whitman are bringing the laughs with Funny or Die’s video about filming the live-action adaptation of the popular Disney film. In the video, embedded below, Thorne and Whitman are giving a behind-the-scenes look at filming, but as you’ll see, Thorne is having a much warmer time of it than poor Whitman, who is portraying ice queen Elsa.
The two are in the video to promote their film, “The Duff,” in which Whitman plays a high school girl who realizes that she fills a certain unwanted role in her group of friends. Thorne plays the school’s meanest mean girl, hoping to keep everyone, including Whitman’s character, in their places.
“Bianca (Mae Whitman) is a content high school senior whose world is shattered when she learns the student body refers to her as ‘The DUFF’ (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) to her prettier, more popular friends (Skyler Samuels & Bianca Santos). With her universe turned upside down, she ignoreswords of wisdom from her favorite teacher (Ken Jeong) and enlists Wesley (Robbie Amell), a slick but charming jock, to help set her apart from the pack and erase her label forever. In doing so, she hopes to land her crush Toby (Nick Eversman), and find the confidence to overthrow the school’s ruthless label maker Madison (Bella Thorne) by reminding everyone that no matter what people look or act like, we are all someone’s DUFF…and that’s totally fine.”
The film also stars Robbie Amell, Bianca Santos, Skyler Samuels, Nick Eversman, Alison Janney, Romany Malco and Ken Jeong. The film is directed by Ari Sandel and written by Josh Cagan, based on the novel by Kody Keplinger. “The Duff” is in theaters now.
