“Self/Less” is only days away from coming to the movie theaters, and it would appear that this film is following in the footsteps of other sci-fi films that aim to show what could be part of our reality. There are two new viral videos and a featurette that plan to show you just how possible the technology of “shedding” could become.

I don’t want to spoil the effect of the viral videos, since they explain themselves, but when you watch the videos and the featurette together, you might be a bit creeped out at how possible the chances are for scientists to dabble once too often and create technology like shedding, i.e. putting the brain of one person or animal into the body of another person or animal. This tech might not sound plausible, but scientists have surprised us before, right?

“Self/Less” comes to theaters nationwide July 10. The film is directed by Tarsem Singh, written by Alex Pastor and David Pastor, and stars Ben Kingsley, Ryan Reynolds, Matthew Goode, Natalie Martinez, Victor Garber, Derek Luke and Michelle Dockery.

“In this provocative psychological science fiction thriller, an extremely wealthy man (Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley) dying from cancer undergoes a radical medical procedure that transfers his consciousness into the body of a healthy young man (Ryan Reynolds). But all is not as it seems when he starts to uncover the mystery of the body’s origin and the organization that will kill to protect its cause.”
