The Golden Globes kicked off award season right after New Year’s, setting the tone for an exciting couple of weeks by looking past some frontrunners and rewarding those who practiced their most “I’m glad I was nominated smile.” We’re looking at you Rami Malek (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) and Glenn Close (“The Wife”).

Here’s a rundown of the remaining award shows:

SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARDS

What it is: This fast-paced show has actors honoring actors for the best work in movies and on television.

When and where to watch: 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, on TNT and TBS

The host: Megan Mullally, expect a nice balance of snark and wit from the actress who plays Karen on NBC’s “Will & Grace”

The nominees: Not only to the SAG awards honor individual achievement in acting, it also honors the collaborative art of ensemble acting. Nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture are “A Star is Born,” “Black Panther,” “Blackkklansman,” “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Crazy Rich Asians.”

On TV, best ensemble drama nominees are “The Americans,” “Better Call Saul,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Ozark,” and “This is Us.” In comedy, the ensemble nominees are “Atlanta,” “Barry,” “Glow,” “The Kominsky Method” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.”

GRAMMY AWARDS

What it is: The music industry’s biggest honor.

When and where to watch: Sunday, Feb. 10, on CBS

The host: This is a case of we know who won’t be hosting – James Corden. Between his late-night duties and filming the live-action “Cats” of Broadway fame, Corden is unavailable. The fall back for this show seems to be LL Cool J, plus he’s in the CBS family as a star of “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

The nominees: There are 84 categories, so we would need a novella to list all the nominees. Competing for Record of the Year, which honors the musician and producers and engineers, are “I Like It” by Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin; “The Joke” by Brandi Carlile; “This is America” by Childish Gambino; “God's Plan” by Drake; “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper; “All the Stars” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA; “Rockstar” by Post Malone featuring 21 Savage; and “The Middle” by Zedd, Maren Morris & Grey.

Our pick: “This is America” by Childish Gambino

INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS

What it is: This is the awards show for the cool kids, held in a tent adjacent to the Santa Monica Pier. You can almost feel the sand between your toes when you watch this show which honors up-and-coming filmmakers and – usually – small films, though there is an occasional blockbuster.

When and where to watch: 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, on IFC The host: Grumpy Cat, er, Aubrey Plaza! The actress who won our heart at the voice of our favorite not happy feline will throw some fun shade at her fellow filmmakers.

The nominees: Some you’ll know, others not so much – but they are all good. Nominated for Best Feature are “Eighth Grade,” “First Reformed,” “If Beale Street Could Talk,” “Leave No Trace” and “You Were Never Really Here.”

Our picks: Tough choice. We’re going with “If Beale Street Could Talk.”

ACADEMY AWARDS (OSCARS)

What it is: The big enchilada of award shows where they have been celebrating themselves for 91 years.

When it is: Sunday, Feb. 24, on ABC

The host: There has been as much drama over who is hosting than has been on screen this year. It won’t be Kevin Hart … it will be: no one.
Hopefully this host-less Oscars goes better than the last one. That was in 1989 with the debacle of Rob Lowe singing with Snow White.

The nominees: We still don’t know as the nominees will be announced on Jan. 22. We can tell you that many hope “Black Panther,” the
groundbreaking Marvel superhero movie is among the Best Picture nominees. It has stiff competition from”Roma,” directed by Alfonso Cuaron.
And don’t forget “A Star Is Born,” “If Beale Street Could Talk,” “Green Book,” “The Favourite,” “Blackkklansman” and “Vice.” That’s quite a possible lineup.

Our pick: “Roma”
