Actor Damian Hill stars in writer-director-producer Jason Raftopoulos’ crime-drama, ‘West of Sunshine.’

Proving that they deserve a second chance at rebuilding their familial relationships, as well as their overall life, can be a difficult challenge for many people. But actor Damian Hill’s protagonist in his new film, ‘West of Sunshine,’ is determined to overcome that obstacle, and prove that he deserves the chance to reconnect with his son.

In honor of Uncork’d Entertainment distributing the drama in North America on VOD today, as well as in theaters on Friday, ShockYa is premiering an exclusive clip from the movie, which is titled ‘Phone All Day.’ The American release of the Australian crime-drama comes after it screened at last fall’s Venice Film Festival, where it received critical acclaim

The movie, which features a social-realist story, marks the feature film writing, directorial and producing debuts of Jason Raftopoulos. In addition to Hill, ‘West of Sunshine’ also stars Ty Perham, Arthur Angel, Kat Stewart, Eliza D’Souza and Kaarin Fairfax.

Uncork’d Entertainment has unveiled the following synopsis for ‘West of Sunshine’:

Separated from his family and caught in a cycle of gambling and debt, Jim has less than a day to repay a violent loan shark. His day is turned upside down when he must look after his young son. Jim’s relationship with his son is tested as his plans to pay back the loan fail. When his last desperate effort to repay the debt puts his son’s life at risk, he must make a choice between his past and a second chance at life.
